AgEagle 2021 – 2023

After Measure was acquired by AgEagle and there were leadership changes, I was promoted to Technical Project Manager. The change in leadership meant there was a need and opportunity to create new processes to help improve our software engineering team’s workflows and task management.

I helped implement an Agile scrum process from scratch that our team lacked before. This greatly increased our team’s productivity. I managed and improved our team’s software development process. Some of the other benefits I’ve brought to AgEagle include:

  • Led & managed Web, Mobile, and QA software development scrum teams across 3 countries as Scrum Master.
    • We spanned 13.5 hours, from UTC-8 to UTC+5:30. I ensured the team members with the earliest timezone always had what they needed when starting their day, and the team members in the latest time zone always had their work ready to be picked up by the most eastern time zone.
  • Ensured timely software delivery using Agile methodologies including scrum meetings & event oversight, sprint progress tracking & reporting, software release coordination, and status updates to leadership.
    • From Sprint Planning, Daily Status, Backlog Grooming, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives, I ran it all.
    • I worked with our devs to ensure we’re pushing things to prod once they’re ready.
    • At the end of each sprint, I wrote a report detailing what was released to leadership.
  • Architected client projects and roadmap features into actionable units of work, while also developing system-level documentation on payment infrastructure, APIs, and IAM policies to guide internal/external stakeholders.
    • I worked closely with our product team to help them scope features, and decide what’s the MVP, and then I dove into Jira to create the Epics/Stories needed to actualize the feature.
    • Due to my strong familiarity with our payment infrastructure and IAM within our team, I created detailed system workflow diagrams explaining the user <> system flows when users sign up for subscriptions and how various team members interact with our AWS tech stack.
    • I also worked closely with our senior engineers to refine our customer-facing external API documentation and SSO capabilities.
  • Resolved L1 vendor management issues from QA and Dev contractors to maintain smooth engineering operations.
    • Any small admin issues that came up, I was the first line of defense and was able to resolve the large majority of issues.
  • Facilitated product initiatives by leveraging design thinking to foster innovation and problem-solving.
    • Through deep-focus work sessions with the product team, we were able to brainstorm the paradigms and workflows we wanted users to experience when using new features.
    • Features like new pricing/subscription management, and data visualization are some of the features I collaborated with the product team very closely on.
  • Oversaw dev-product team alignment meetings to ensure clear communication and goal alignment across teams.
    • We had a weekly cadence where the product team could share any updates or important customer conversations that were on their mind, and I could share any new updates and discoveries that happened as a result of the devs working through the sprint backlog items.
    • Syncing on updates and working through any action items really has helped us ensure what the product team is envisioning closely matches what the devs are creating.
  • Crafted SQL-driven reports to highlight customer journeys and challenges to improve product decision-making.
    • Whether it’s a list of users that have used a particular feature or whether it’s tracking when a group of users logged in, I created reports to give product/leadership insights to inform their decisions.
  • Managed security audits, incident responses, risk mitigation, and IT assets to ensure SOC2, GDPR, and FAA compliance, promoting compliant and efficient engineering practices,
    • I ensured routine security reviews, system outage mitigations, post-mortems, and other controls. I ensured they were all being maintained so our team could maintain our SOC2 compliance for our clients.
    • With a significant EU customer base, I liaised with the team on several GDPR-based development units to ensure our data usage and privacy policy will be compliant.
  • Identified/implemented AWS Cost Savings of >$15,000/year via system analysis of AgEagle’s AWS Platform.
    • I collaborated with our senior engineers to optimize our AWS S3 storage class usage, purchase AWS reserved instances for the resources we use daily, and close down redundant RDS/Redis services. We achieved huge savings from this.
  • Enhanced software development efficiency by developing AWS Lambda functions in Python to automate code review tracking and notifications in Microsoft Teams and Jira.
    • I wrote two AWS Lambda functions in Python which track AWS CodeCommit Events, and do the following respectively:
      • Gathers the CodeCommit Event information, and sends it to a webhook that is connected to our Microsoft Teams, so our developers will get a notification when a new Pull Request has been created so they will know to review/merge the code, and a notification will also appear in Microsoft Teams to inform the development team the code has been merged so the respective developers can continue their work.
      • Gathers the CodeCommit Event information, which contains the correspondent Jira ticket ID, checks if there are any Pull Request (PR) URLs already logged within the Jira ticket, appends the PR URL to any existing information, and passes the updated list of PR URLs back to the Jira ticket via the Jira API.
